This template is a reflection exercise to help begin developing the strategy for a film impact campaign. The Internal Discovery process, and this questionnaire, is the first of a three-step process that Peace is Loud uses to develop impact campaign strategy:
- Internal Discovery: a time for reflection and to identify a working theory of a film’s intended impact
- External Discovery: a time to explore a film and impact campaign’s ecosystem and identify how the film could support larger movement goals
- Impact Building Blocks: a time to organize your learnings and information into a strategic framework that includes a vision, goal, target audiences, strategies, tactics, and desired outcomes.
The Internal Discovery Questionnaire is a list of comprehensive questions that we encourage filmmakers to reflect on before beginning a film impact campaign. These questions will help filmmakers identify what they know, what they don’t know, what they need to learn, and what type of change their film is best positioned to affect. This step in the process can be collaborative and anyone with decision-making power in the impact campaign can participate, including participants, as well as community partners.
Not all the questions listed may be appropriate for your project–we offer the full questionnaire as a resource for filmmakers to pull from what works best for your project’s needs.
An abbreviated version of this internal discovery questionnaire is integrated into Peace is Loud’s Impact Roadmap Worksheet, which is also available in the Collective Lens Library.
