A Statement on Israel and Gaza

ETA: Palestinian filmmakers can now sign up for pro-bono impact consulting from Peace is Loud. Read more and sign up here.

We are deeply horrified by the violent attacks on Israeli civilians by Hamas. We mourn the more than 1,300 people killed and maintain hope for the safe return of those taken hostage. We acknowledge the anger and fear that many are feeling, and hold space for our collective grief.

We also grieve for residents of Gaza who are under unrelenting attack by the Israeli government and military. The last nine days of Israel’s retaliation – which has included near-constant air strikes, the internal displacement of over one million people, and denial of essential needs such as water, electricity, fuel and humanitarian aid to residents of Gaza – has caused an urgent humanitarian catastrophe. The Israeli bombardment has killed more than 2,700 Palestinians and wounded more than 9,700 others. This must stop.

Peace is Loud envisions a world in which peace, equity, and dignity are the lived experience of everyone in our society. Our name is a call to action, a call for justice and equal rights for all Israelis and Palestinians, without which there can be no peace. We maintain that the targeting of civilians is unconscionable and a clear violation of international law.

We join the chorus of voices calling for an immediate ceasefire before thousands more civilians are killed.

What you can do:

  • Donate to organizations providing critical services and supplies to Palestine: ANERAPCRFWFPDoctorsWithoutBorders and UNRWA.
  • If you live in the United States, contact your local government representative and ask that the U.S. call for a ceasefire immediately. Find out who your local representative is by entering your zip code HERE or use THIS FORM to to receive a phone call patching you through to your representative.

“There is only one way to end violence and that is to address the root causes of everything happening: 75 years of Israeli military occupation and apartheid, and end U.S. complicity in this systemic oppression.”

Jewish Voice for Peace

Peace is Loud acts in solidarity with Israelis and Palestinians united in a shared vision of peace and justice that starts with accountability and an end to the occupation in the West Bank and the illegal blockade of Gaza. As we continue to amplify calls for justice through our Speakers Bureau members and Film Impact work, we stand in firm opposition to any and all forms of anti-Semitism and anti-Arab rhetoric and actions.
