Your weekly songspiration!

1. White House appointees are dropping like flies.

There’s Flynn, of course:

Plus Pudzer, other lower-level potential nominees, and these advisors who resigned en masse.

2. Thousands of immigrants went on strike (and businesses closed in solidarity) for yesterday’s nationwide Day Without Immigrants.

 Marchers in Chicago+Texas

3. More retailers have broken up with Trump this week, and the Ivanka Trump brand’s online sales fell by 26%#GrabYourWallet: It’s making a difference.

4. We are not backing down. (And no, we’re not being paid to protest…) 80,000 people marched in Raleigh, NC for voting rights, crowds in Greensboro, GA are demanding answers from their elected officials, and after Senator Daines helped block Elizabeth Warren from reading Coretta Scott King’s letter on the Senate floor, a group of women showed up at his office and read it to him.

5. Local victories = important victories When thousands rush to the airport to protect our Constitution, that is not an end; that is a beginning.”

👉  The legal victories against the Muslim ban just keep on coming. Good job Virginia! 👍

👉  An Oklahoma judge ordered Scott Pruitt to release emails with the oil, gas, coal industry AND E.P.A. employees are calling their senators and saving their website.

👉  Testimony from gun safety advocates helped defeat three Colorado bills.

👉  Florida’s Supreme Court blocked a law requiring waiting periods before abortions.

👉   High voter turnout led to progressive wins for the New Mexico school board.

👉  The North Carolina Supreme Court blocked the Republicans’ unlawful power grab.

👉  The number of women who plan to run for office keeps rising (13,000!).

6. The Army finally lifted its ban on dreadlocks—and speaking of the Army, veterans are returning to Standing Rock to form a human shield around the protesters.

7. Thanks to continued peaceful protests, Yale will remove a white supremacist’s name from one of their buildings.

8. Republicans (!) are getting in on the action—they’re calling for investigations into Trump’s ties with Russia and beginning to undo Mike Pence’s work in Indiana.

9. The mainstream media is doing their job—and it’s working:

Dogged reporting led to Flynn’s resignation. Unlike the lead up to the Iraq War, this time the mainstream media is ON IT.

Matt Lauer called out Kellyanne Conway on her B.S., and Morning Joe banned her from their show.

→ The New York Times isn’t afraid to call out the administration’s lies and falsehoods.

Jake Tapper called the Trump press conference a Festivus Airing of Grievances.

Teen Vogue is fact checking Trump weekly.

→ Even FOX NEWS is saying the American people deserve answers!

10. Love—in all its shapes and forms—is a practice of freedom:

Adele’s praise for Beyonce at the Grammy’s gave us all the feels.

A fifth-grade basketball team decided to stick together.

LGBTQ+ love continues to trump hate.

This Syria Supper Club brings new neighbors together to break bread and resist division.

The NFL shows that love has no labels.

We’d be remiss not to mention A Seat at the Table Syllabus based on Solange’s recent album:

“If we are to have a democracy in which all of us have a seat at the table, we know that these experiences should be central to the development of America’s practices and policies.”
