Leymah Gbowee Appointed to SDG Advocacy Group
Peace is Loud speaker and Nobel Laureate Leymah Gbowee was appointed to the Sustainable Development Goals Advocacy Group at last week’s World Economic Forum. At the forum, global leaders convened in Davos, Switzerland to discuss development and policy initiatives to promote growth and reduce inequalities, including the launch of this group.
United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and the Advocacy Group co-chairs, Norway’s Prime Minister Erna Solberg and Ghanian President John Dramani Mahama, led a panel discussion at the Forum explaining how the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will be translated into practice, and the role of the Advocacy Group to further this agenda. The group members were selected based on their resources, networks and special skills conducive to furthering development progress.
