On the Divide follows the story of three Latinx people living in McAllen, Texas who, despite their views, are connected by the most unexpected of places: the last abortion clinic on the U.S./Mexico border. As threats to the clinic and their personal safety mount, these three are forced to make decisions they never could have imagined.
The documentary serves those most affected by abortion restrictions in an area that has become a battleground for reproductive justice and that is signaling to the rest of the United States. Led by Peace is Loud, the impact campaign’s goal is to bolster power building among people of color, Latinx, and/or immigrant communities in the fight for reproductive justice and abortion rights.
The impact campaign centers capacity and power building among local communities, and the creation and facilitation of nuanced dialogues about abortion to build bridges across literal and metaphorical divides. Working with groups like South Texans for Reproductive Justice, National Latina Institute for Reproductive Justice and Catholics for Choice, we are supporting their reproductive justice work and helping film audiences and others undertake courageous conversations about the intersection of religion, choice, and identity. Our hands-on partnerships will help build power among the communities most affected by abortion restrictions and shift the conversation around choice in even the most contested arenas.
